The answer is that BLM and Cops are correct. We can find a path forward together that is inclusive of community policing models that have excellent oversight and extremely good officer support. We do need police. We do need to end reactionary militarized policing tactics that embrace systemic racism and the punitive policy that protects it. Cops will be much safer in communities that support them. It’s most definitely a two-way street.
Regarding your last statement, I’ve actually deleted a Reddit account where I posted one too many times in politically charged comments. I still do on this account but I try to keep it to a minimum. And both sides largely hate centrists these days. It’s almost dangerous to not pick a hard side because if you don’t then nobody has your back.
