Since it’s been brought up more than once, yes, after Florida started recounting votes, the gap was smaller than 1,700. However, the point of that comparison is to show how much smaller the gap would need to be for a recount to even have any potential so it makes a lot more sense to compare the two elections when they were at the same point, i.e. initial results.
A lot of you seem to disagree that Trump should be able to take the results to the court. Philosophically, I agree that crying wolf over and over again should have consequences, but legally, he has every right to dispute the results the way he’s doing it now. Trump ABSOLUTELY has the right to file suit and he is ABSOLUTELY entitled to have a judge review the basis for that suit. What he is NOT entitled to is to have his case accepted and taken to court in the absence of evidence.
